- I tried calling most of the ram suppliers in the Computer Shopper and
- came up blank. I tried all the local electronic stores in the
- L.A. area with no luck. Seems like the *only* place to buy these is
- directly from TI . I tried asking for a sample and they said it was
- too expensive and under-stocked for being given as samples. If I
- remember correctly, it was $90 for a 2Mb chip. I'd like to try before
- buying, but $90 is a rather expensive trial. I seem to remember there
- was quite a long delivery/lead time as well. I looked at a spec sheet
- on them and it appears they are special in regards to their speed and
- are typically used for graphics cards and laser printer memory.
-
- Be nice to know if there is some older product that used these and is
- now obsolete. Maybe some other manufacturer has stock-piled these and
- will sell them at a reasonable cost.
-
- Be nice if you could buy them from Zyxel... they could order enough to
- *possibly* bring the price down.. or at least have them available at
- TI's price.
-
- Too bad they couldn't have picked a more standard RAM to use. They
- don't seem to mind that you have to go through so much trouble to get
- the RAM that is used in their product. Unusual for a company that does
- such a good job of support both on the net and over the phone.
-
- If anyone finds a source of these other than TI, knows of any other
- product that used these chips, or has successfully used these in their
- 2864 e-mail me or post it up here for the rest of us.
